Terms and Conditions Policies 

 

 

   We reserve the right to modify or amend these conditions at any time and will update them on this page of the website. By ordering from D and K creative cakes and paying your deposit to secure our services you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions and are legally bound by them.

Payments and Deposits 

 

    We require a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 15% on celebration cakes and £50 on wedding cakes to confirm an order and hold the date.  The remaining final payment is due 4 weeks before the delivery date, at which point all changes must be confirmed (changes to the previously agreed design may incur extra fees). Payment can be made earlier if you wish and you notify us. Failure to complete payment 4 weeks before the delivery date may result in your order being cancelled. By making a payment the client is accepting the Terms and Conditions as detailed on this page. We accept card payments, bank transfers, cash, paypal as forms of payment.

Refunds and Cancellations

 Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances due to any loss of business arising from turning away other bookings for that date. Full payments made less than 4 weeks in advance of the delivery date are non-refundable. Full payments made more than 4 weeks in advance of the delivery date are subject to a cancellation fee if cancelled more than 4 weeks in advance of the delivery date. We cannot refund the cost of any orders cancelled with less than 4 weeks notice. Orders paid in full and cancelled with more than 4 weeks notice will receive a partial refund of 50% of the total amount paid. In the very unlikely event that we have to cancel your order for any reason, then we will give you as much notice as possible, discuss the matter with you and try to agree a suitable alternative. If you do not wish to accept our suggested alternative, then we will refund the full cost to you. We take a £20 booking fee for appointments - this is non-refundable should you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice.

Product Information 

 

 The images on the website are all D and K creative cakes own work and examples of our cakes that we have previously produced. All our products are hand made and can be ordered in different sizes from those shown on the website, your cake may have variations from the website image/other design source images that you have sent to D and K creative cakes . Any image provided as part of the description of similar goods is given for illustrative purposes only. Given the nature of the goods, minor variations of colour and design may apply.

Consultations 

​

   Consultations (including samples) are by appointment only. An appointment for a consultation and tasting must be agreed on with D and K creative cakes by email/ text and a non-refundable consultation fee must be paid prior to the consultation date before it can be confirmed. All appointments for consultations will be confirmed in writing by D and K creative cakes. You may feel that an appointment isn’t necessary if you know exactly what you would like already in which case you can arrange to collect a box of samples to decide on your chosen flavours in the comfort of your home. Your wedding cake quote includes one consultation, if you require another face to face consultation this is charged at £10 per half hour.

Price Quotation 

​

  All written price quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of quotation. To secure this price you must pay your full save the date deposit. If you decide later than 14 days that you'd like to book the design you have previously discussed you will need to first get in touch with the D and K creative cakes  and check the quotation. We reserve the right to alter our prices at any time.  If booking your wedding cake more than 12 months in advance, your quote may be subject to price fluctuations due to an increase of costs (We cap any increased charge to no more than £50)

Alterations 

​

If you have any queries or need to make any changes to an order please contact us immediately. Alterations and amendments must be submitted in writing by email - not social media messages. We will assess the request for an alteration, and endeavour to make alteration where possible dependant on the design and amount of notice given. We will let you know its effect on the price and any agreed timetable. Accepting any alterations is at the discretion of D and K creative cakes Alterations requested less than 2 weeks before completion may be subject to a surcharge. It is the client's responsibility to check any quotes and invoices thoroughly before making payment. Sometimes, last minute design changes may need to be made and we reserve the right to make these decisions without prior arrangement if circumstances beyond our control compromise the quality of the finished product. e.g. weather conditions. We will endeavour to keep any changes minimal but the client will be notified of any major design change and this will never be done without the client's prior permission.

Non-Edible ingredients and decorations 

   

   Our cakes may contain non-edible ingredients or decorations, such as plastic or wooden dowels in tiered cakes or wires in some sugar flowers. These will be detailed on the Delivery Note and must be removed before serving or eating.

Social Media 

  Here at D and K creative cakes we regularly update all social media platforms with our latest work, behind the scenes pictures, close up shots and pictures of your wedding cake after the day. All posts are done tastefully and positively. Unless you opt out, on ordering with D and K creative cakes  you agree that D and K creative cakes can name you by first name terms on social media and blogging platforms and include your wedding venue and date.

Allergies and Special Dietary Requirements 

Nuts - Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee our cakes are nut-free. We use ingredients containing nuts in our kitchen & therefore cannot be 100% sure they are safe for allergy sufferers.

Non gluten-containing ingredient cakes - Some of our cakes can be made with no gluten-containing ingredients on request. Due to food labelling laws we are unable to use the phrase 'Gluten Free'. However, please be reassured, every step possible is taken to ensure cross contamination does not occur. We bake all our special diet cakes before any other cakes that day but we do handle gluten in our kitchen on a daily basis therefore we do not recommend our gluten avoided cakes for anyone with a high risk allergy.

Dairy - We will happily make any of our cakes dairy free by using Pure sunflower spread in replacement of butter.

Vegan – no dairy, eggs or animal product containing ingredients. We can make a variety of vegan cakes, please ask for more info.

Due to new Data Protection Laws enforced in May 2018 if you are ordering any alternative dietary cakes for allergies you will be required to agree within your contract that D and K creative cakes can hold that sensitive information on the order form.

D and K creative cakes,  CANNOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY CROSS-CONTAMINATION FOLLOWING DELIVERY.

This may occur if my cakes come into direct contact with food products containing wheat/gluten, eggs, dairy; if they are handled with utensils or placed on surfaces previously used for food containing avoided ingredients without adequate cleaning.

 

Cake Stand Hire 

 

  We offer cake stand hire. A hire fee plus a security deposit is required in advance. We have a selection of stands and will suggest the stand best suited to the cake. It is the client's responsibility to return the cake stand/s after hire to our shop address within 5 days (at a pre-arranged time). The deposit will not be refunded in the event that the stand is damaged, or returned after 5 days. We are not liable for any damages that occur to the cake stand before we receive it back. Once the stand is returned within the given time frame and we are satisfied that it is not damaged we will issue a refund to the client.

Delivery

 

  Please ensure that you provide us with the correct address and postcode for delivery/set-up. We cannot be held liable for any damages to the cake or products we have delivered once we have delivered or delivered and set up the cake at the venue or delivery location and received a signature for the safe receipt of the goods on our delivery note (we will deliver with a delivery note). We have a free delivery service within a 10 mile radius of D and K creative cakes, we also deliver all around the East Midlands, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire too and we are happy to quote a delivery cost to you chosen venue. We will always endeavour to deliver within the given time slot, however unfortunately delivery timings can not be guaranteed. Refunds will not be given for delayed deliveries. If in the unlikely event the delivery is delayed, we will always endeavour to deliver the cake to you as close as possible to the given delivery time.  Whilst every effort is made to deliver your cake in perfect condition we cannot be liable for any faults that may occur on delivery due to damaged/ untidy roads, in the unfortunate case that anything was to happen we would make every effort to repair your cake to its original design.

 

Collection 

 

For collections of celebration cakes/ favours/ cupcakes etc  a order will be unless stated otherwise ready for collection the afternoon of the date it is booked for. Please note that when booking to request an am collection or too book for collection the day before the cake is required We don’t offer a collection service on any of our wedding cakes. unless specifically  required too be collected for long distance weddings. Any cake pops/ biscuit favours can be collected a day or 2 before your wedding if you require this please arrange a time before hand.

After Delivery 

​

  Cakes placed outside are liable to react to the temperature. In hot or humid weather there is the possibility of sugar decorations melting or damage to the cake. Please note, we do can provide cake tables, tablecloths or cutting knives etc if required these will be charged individually and will require booking along with the cake. Should we not be providing these It is the responsibility of the client to provide these or check with the venue to ensure these items are provided. A shelf life and Best Before Date will be provided on the Delivery Note. This is advisory only. Please note, once cakes have been cut into the shelf life will be reduced. You can freeze your wedding cake after the day for up to 6 months, to do this cut in to chunks and double wrap in cling film.

Damages

 

   In the unlikely event that your order arrives damaged, it is the customer’s responsibility to report the damage to us within 48 hours and send photographic evidence of the damage within 7 working days if you wish to claim a refund or replacement. D and K creative cakes  will not take back any undamaged goods from the client unless agreed in writing by D and K creative cakes . D and K creative cakes accepts no liability for cakes that are damaged after they have been delivered to the agreed location. For cakes delivered to venues, D and K creative cakes requires a signed delivery note by the person in charge to say that the cake has arrived and that it arrived in perfect condition. celebration cakes/ Favours etc collected from D and K creative cakes premises requires a signed delivery note by the person taking the cake to agree that they accept all responsibility for the items and that they left us in perfect condition. Damages after this point are not D and K creative cake's responsibility.

All D and K creative cake's wedding cakes are fragile and require care and attention when handling, storing, and displaying. Please pay careful attention to our storage and transportation (where relevant) instructions that will be provided with the cake.

Complaints 

​

  If you wish to make a complaint to us or let us know any concerns after receiving the cake, please do so in writing. Evidence of any faults, damages or discrepancies should be included. Any refunds will be given entirely at our discretion.
